STUDIO BRIEF 4  INITIAL DEVELOPMENT |

I firstly had a brain storm into what I would need to create in terms of all design and final produced elements, as well as a name for the company. I really wanted something that sounded/looked Mexican and made sense as the name for a food business.

To begin my design development I put together a mood board from my research to inspire and direct my logo decisions.

Fonts

I looked into various fonts that were similar to that in my sketches, as I am not a hugely confident typographer and it would maybe be easier to build the logo using existing fonts rather than creating my own. Saying this I would like it to be unique and to be able to say I did it all myself.

I mainly looked at script and hand-paint style fonts -

Alternatively I also looked at some bold geometric san serifs -

Sketches.

From here I then began sketching my ideas, mainly experimenting with layout, structure and typefaces, working from the collection above.

Taking this digital, I recreated my designs in their most basic form using the various typefaces I had collected -

I then began developing the strongest idea. I experimented with my own hand drawn variations of the 'el' and then roughened up the type to give more of a hand rendered and un-perfect aesthetic. From here I then experimented with the shadowed style and decorative elements that I had acknowledged during my research.
